Dear All,
For what its worth...,
I have just returned from 2 weeks in India with 15 students where we were involved in an Aiglon service project in Wardha. Post-project travels took us to Mumbai, Jaipur, Agra and Delhi.
All went off without a hitch and there was no sense of heightened anxiety anywhere we went, although security checks in Airports were time consuming (re-assuringly so..)
I agree with the Board statement, I quote- After due consideration it is felt there is no reason for the Mayo Conference not to go ahead as planned.
I will run this past my own Board of Governors, but my recommendation to them will be that the Aiglon delegation should confirm its intention to attend the conference. Obviously as a school we would respect the view of any parent wishing to withdraw their son or daughter from the conference if they had security concerns (as indeed one of ours did with our recent service project) but we would do all we could to assure them that all reasonable precautions have been taken.
